More than 70,000 Eurasian patent applications for inventions have been filed with the EAPO



The 70,000th anniversary application has been received under the PCT from Indian pharmaceutical company Unichem Laboratories for a protein for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

Neurodegenerative diseases include, for example, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other cognitive disorders with symptoms associated with dementia.

The use of the claimed invention, recombinant lectin protein, in pharmaceutical compositions enables the patient to preserve cognitive functions due to the cytoprotective and anti-apoptotic effects of the protein with respect to neuronal cells. According to the patent application, the source of such a protein is the Sclerotium roffiii lectin.

The anniversary application was filed with the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) under the international patenting procedure called PCT, which is regulated by the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
