From February 26 to March 2, 2007 three events in the field of information technologies took place in Chisinau (Moldova):
- February 26-27 – the IV Meeting of the Permanent Working Group on Information Technologies of the EAPO Administrative Council (PRGI)
- February 28 – Meeting of the Coordination Council on the Regional Patent and Information Product CISPATENT;
- February 28 – March 2 – International Seminar in the Field of Information Technologies and Industrial Property Subjects Administration, organized by WIPO and EAPO in cooperation with the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova.
Representatives of national patent offices of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan took part in the work of the IV Meeting of the Permanent Working Group on Information Technologies. Representatives of Ukraine and Georgia were present as observers.
Participants discussed main issues of current status and development of information technologies in EAPO, cooperation of national patent offices with EAPO and rendering EAPO's assistance to national patent offices in further development of web sites and Eurasian Web-portal, broadening of Internet access to national patent offices via dedicated lines, and use of the EAPATIS system.
EAPO representatives reported on availability of collections of retrospective information and loading of retrospective patent documentation of national patent offices in EAPATIS, results of creation of a multilingual database of national patent documentation of the Republic of Armenia in EAPATIS and perspectives of creating analogue databases of patent documentation of CIS countries, project of creating a database of CIS patent documentation in English, current status and perspectives of e-filing development in EAPO.
During the meeting participants discussed modern standards of submission of patent information and transfer to the new IPC version in EAPO. A problem of transliteration was raised. Taking into account urgency of the issue participants decided to discuss it jointly in order to find a unique approach to the problem.
On February 28 EAPO specialists took part in the Meeting of the Coordination Council on creation of a joint regional patent and information product of the CIS countries on CD-ROM which took place in the National Palace of the Republic of Moldova, Chisinau.
Report on results of industrial production of the regional CD-ROM, plans for further production of CD-ROM "CISPATENT" for 2007 and other important matters on future development of joint projects were discussed.
From February 28 to March 2 the Interregional Seminar on the Information Technologies and Industrial Property Subjects Administration took place in the National Palace of the Republic of Moldova, Chisinau. The Seminar was organized by the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI).
Specialists in the field of information technologies from patent offices of the EAPO Member-states, WIPO, and patent offices of Romania, Ukraine, Georgia and Uzbekistan participated in the Seminar.
Participants presented reports on development of information systems of the participating states and demonstrated their achievements in the field of automated procedures of intellectual property subjects registration. Specialists from EAPO and WIPO presented their latest achievements in the field of information systems and databases management.
The official part of the week events was accompanied by informal meetings and cultural programme organized by the hosts – State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI).
Participants of the Seminar marked a positive role of cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of information technologies and set their hopes on continuation of seminars organization and work meeting in the field of information technologies.
