On June 19, 2007 representatives of the Invention Office of the Democratic People′s Republic of Korea visited the Eurasian Patent Office in Moscow. The Invention Office of the Democratic People′s Republic of Korea was founded on June 4, 1954 and is an unitary institution of the Government of the Democratic People′s Republic of Korea, which main target is to carry out examination and registration of legal rights of inventors to use inventions in practice and for industrial purposes.

The delegation consisted of Mr. O. Pack, Vice-President of the Invention Office of the Democratic People′s Republic of Korea, Mr. Chkhe Be Dock, Director of the Division of the Department for International, Science and Technical Cooperation of the State Academy of Science of the Democratic People′s Republic of Korea and Mr. Zen Y Ken, Counselor on Science and Technology of the Embassy of the Democratic People′s Republic of Korea in the Russian Federation. From the EAPO side the delegation consisted of Mr. Kh. Fayazov, the EAPO Vice-President (head of the delegation), Mr. V. Talyansky, Director of the Examination Department, Mr. V.Sirotyuk, Director of the Dataware Department, Mr. S. Eminov, Director of the Procedure Automation Department and Ms. E. Chekun, Specialist of the International Relations Department.
The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the EAPO activity and the Eurasian Patent System to establish contacts for future close cooperation.
Representatives of Invention Office of the Democratic People′s Republic of Korea reported on its activity, purposes and functions.

EAPO Specialists informed members of the delegation about EAPO activity, main legislative acts, procedure of getting a Eurasian patent, told about the EAPO examiners, applied automation procedure tools, demonstrated search means, used while carrying out examination. The EAPO specialists gave answers to all questions posed by the Korean side and made a short excursion of the office.
Guests expressed their readiness to establish close cooperation in the field of exchange of patent information.
