World IP Day
Congratulatory message from Alexander Grigoriev,
President, Eurasian Patent Office
Dear colleagues!
For the ninth time we are celebrating the World Intellectual Property Day on April 26, 2009.
This year WIPO is focusing on green innovation as the key to a secure future.
Today there is a huge gap between development of modern technologies and limited abilities of nature for self-regeneration. Global ecologic problems are well-known: ecological risks of technosphere, excessive exploitation of natural resources and environment pollution.
To solve such scale problems we need to focus on areas where breakthrough innovations are possible and orient new generations on them. In present complex ecological situation environmental protection will be effective where it responds to economic interests. In other words, innovation and technologic breakthrough has to be combined with rational nature-conservative measures. It is clear that it is a complex of challenging tasks for inventors and role of inventions, being a significant component of intellectual resources of a country, is obvious.
Though ecological problems are very complex there already exist successful solutions. Let us refer to the example of Finland, where income from export of innovative energy technology by two times exceeds expenditures of the country on import of oil. These achievements have become possible owing among others to efforts of our colleagues. On the way from creation of an idea until its realization, patenting and commercialization, specialists in the field of intellectual property are reliable partners and assistants of researchers, engineers, manufactures and businessmen.
Thousands of people in each country work in the sphere of intellectual property contributing to inventive activity, involving young people into technical creativity, and development of public organizations of inventors.
The indicators of this activity are user-friendly patent systems, strong patents, professional patent skills and inventive activity in the countries of our region.
We wish new ideas, successful implementation of creative projects, happiness, and wellbeing to inventors and specialists in intellectual property, and prosperity and welfare to our countries.
