In January 2013 the President of the Eurasian Patent Office Mr.Alexander GRIGORIEV and the Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office Mr.Hiroyuki FUKANO signed the Joint Statement of Intent between Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) and Japan Patent Office (JPO) to cooperate in the field of Patent Prosecution. The document presumes the implementation of the Patent Prosecution Highway Pilot Program (PPH) between the Offices starting from February 15, 2013.

The Program is based on the concept of international work sharing between EAPO and JPO in processing of applications, filed to both Offices and which meet the requirements of the PPH Program.

The principal aim of the PPH Program is to provide applicants with an opportunity to get a patent faster and more efficiently in one of the participating Offices, through the use of results of the search and examination conducted in the other participating Office.
